About the initiative #PehlePadhaiPhirShaadi
Jaisalmer’s walls are decorated with beautiful paintings of wedding art. But, behind this, is an unfortunate reality. The city is a part of Rajasthan which has one of the lowest adult literacy rates among females in the country.
The reason is simple – the girls are often made to choose marriage over education.
Through #PehlePadhaiPhirShaadi, an initiative to drive social change, Bharat Matrimony is encouraging parents to empower their daughters with freedom to think, choose and take this life-changing decision between education or marriage. Not stopping there, we have created a special Shiksha art inspired by the wedding wall graffiti, which celebrates and announces this key choice.
Girls who choose to study also stand a chance to be awarded a scholarship, provided by Bharat Matrimony, to pursue their dreams.
